Hello folks, today I am going to give you some tips a choose a safe password to safeguard your online contents. Obviously each person from a child to old age people know – “What is password ?”. But still I am going to say what it is.

What is password ?

A password is a secret word or a string of characters that people can use to log/authentication to prove identity or to gain access to ones files, programs, and other resources (The resources can be anything your Private messages, Emails, photos etc. which you don't want others to see). Passwords help ensure that people do not access the computer unless they have been authorized to do so.

Why you should not reveal your password to others ?

As I have said in the above statement, A password protects your resources and does not allow others to access it. So it is better not to share your password with anyone (friends, parents, room mates, cousins etc. ).
Well let me elaborate it to you, if you share your password with anyone, they can gain access to your files and E-mail. And also can Hack or can use it against you. Same thing happened in my neighborhood, some hackers have hacked their account and posted a unwanted photos and messaged some rubbish to people. This type of behavior spoils the respect of the person who is not actually doing it.
So my intention in writing this post is to create a better and safe password for your online contents.

How to create a high and a Safe password

First thing you all should know that never and ever choose passwords like a guessable like your name, parents name, telephone number, girlfriends name, favorite pets/places/monuments etc. and remember your password should contain atleast 8 characters long.

What makes password strong ?

• Is at least eight characters long
  
• Does not contain your user name, real name, phone number or company name.
  
• Does not contain a complete word or sentence.
  
• Is different from your previous passwords.
  
• Contains characters from each of the following four categories:
  

Character category	Examples
Uppercase letters	A,B,C,D,E……….
Lowercase letters	a,b,c,d…..
Numbers	0,1,2,3,4………
Symbols	` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ - + = { } [ ] \ | : ; " ' < > , . ? /

A password meet all the criteria above in the category list and what if its still a weak password. Yes, it can happen so. For example, you have created a strong password, Hello2U! but it still a weak password because it contains a complete word. Try using this type of password instead of the above mentioned one, H3ll0 2 U! because it replaces some of the letters to numbers and also include spaces.

What are the rules I follow ?

For creating a strong password, I follow some simple rules for myself to create and remember a strong and secure password. If find difficult in creating a strong password, you can simply follow my own rules.

• Replace  ‘a’ with @
• Replace  ‘s’ with $
• Replace space with %,/,>
• Replace  ‘o’ with 0
• Replace  ‘i’ with !
• Replace ‘l’ with 1

Lets assume your password is Charlie and after following my rules you password will be Ch@r1!e.

Tips for keeping Password Secure

• Never tell your password for friends, relatives, parents, cousin, room mates, parrots etc.
• Never write your password on your books, text document in your computer where it can be easily seen.
• Keep changing your password periodically (once in 3 months or once in 6 months).
